Hybrid Animal Reflection

The assignment was to make a Hybrid animal by using the computer program Illustrator. A hybrid animal is an animal made up of many other animals, so in other words a combination of 2 or more animals. Our hybrid animal had to have at least a combination of 3 animals. I took pictures from the internet, of foxes, a cobra, and a seal, in order to make my hybrid animal.

My hybrid animal consisted of a combination of a seal’s lower half, a fox’s upper body, and a cobra as the tail. It took me a long time to figure out what my animal’s habitat would be, but at the end I came to a conclusion! My animal would live under water most of the time, kind of like seals. The background is mostly shades of blue, making the impression of sunlight breaking trough the water. There’s seaweeds and bubbles floating upwards.

I feel as everything about my animal has something that relates to me, even the color. I picked a fox, because unlike most of it’s relatives, such as the wolf, it is a none pack animal. It’s a solitary animal, also an opportunistic. In Japanese culture the fox is mostly portrayed as a trickster and a deceiver. Not saying that I have no friends, or that I’m a deceiver, but I do feel way better when I’m alone. I love having time to my self, and I find solitude to be a peace full place in my life. Not only that but I also have found to have a gift for making up credible excuses, but only when I’m feeling trap in a corner. The seal reflects the fun side of me, the side that likes to play, and take things easy. (I mean seriously have u seen a seal bathing in the sun lately?) I think this aspect balances out the solitude part of the fox. The cobra reflects the cautious side of me. A cobra is extremely dangerous, but also ingenuous. It will avoid a fight at all cost, only when teased or irritated by something will it bare it fangs. Even ten it will find the quickest way to end the situation and continue on with it’s life. I feel like I’m also like the cobra, because I will avoid a bad situation at all cost. Only when I feel like I have no other option, and the fox part of me feels like it’s traped in a dead end, do I tackle the situation head on. This is not only limited to fights, but other aspects such as school work. I made the cobra as the tail because I feel like it’s my last resort and also a small part of me that I hardly show. I choose the color blue cause it’s a very calming color, and I feel like I’m very calm when I have to be. I chose the ocean, because I feel like the ocean is a cool place filled with a lot of mysteries.  In a sort of way I feel like I’m like the ocean.

I feel like I did really good in this project. I love how my hybrid animal came out smooth and well transform. It almost looked like it would be a real mystical animal! If anything I would have loved to developed it more, so it would look more 3D. That said I’m very satisfy with it, but more because I was able to use Illustrator in ways I didn’t think I would manage.

Public Service Announcement Reflection

The assignment was to make a public service announcement about a current issue that we were concerned about.  Some thing that impacted us and tat we felt like the public should be more aware of. The assignment required us to use I-Movie to make the announcement. It also required at least three statistics about the subject along with a slogan (or call of action). So in the end through images, music, and a few statistics, we were supposed to get our point across to the public.

I had a few ideas at first but at the end I decided to address child abuse. In this PSA I included three statistics: Almost 5 children die every day due to child abuse, more than 75% of them are under the age of 4. The 1,559 pinwheels on the lawn represent the 1,559 child abuse reports in Lorain County during 2006. Ninety percent of child abuse victims know the perpetrator in some way. In this PSA I used images of children being scared, along with other images such as dolls, pinwheels, and also watercolor paintings. I picked a song that I believe to be Greek called lilium.

Child abuse is something that sadly happens very often and in front of many people that decide to keep it a secrete. I feel like this has to stop “It shouldn’t hurt to be a child” that’s my logo I my PSA and I really agree with it.  People need to be aware of whats going on and stop turning a blind eye to these things.  One of my statistics which says, “The 1,559 pinwheels on the lawn represent the 1,559 child abuse reports in Lorain County during 2006”,  clearly proves my point of view in this issues. Imagine 1,559 children REPORTED abused in Lorain County, imagine how many were not reported! Imagine how many are still being abused now! This got to stop!

I feel really confident on this assignment. I feel like I did a good job on it and I got my pint across. The pictures and how they go along with the song in order to create this sad and truth full feel to this PSA.  I do feel tough that I could work on making the statistics stay longer and more clearer, I tried but it’s definitely something that I would work on more in future projects. I learned a valuable thing with this project that I could in corporate to other projects. That is to always have a deep interest in what I’m doing so that I can never worry about putting my all into it.

So this is my first work using photo shop... EVER! but i guess it wasn't that bad. Back then I had no idea what to do for my cover and and back part of my note book... and I still don't know! I mean I like bearded dragons and one of these days I'll own one! The green apple... well I hate them, because I have a bad history with them! lol! So when I say "Worst thing In my life! The end!" I meant the apple not the note book!!
