Public Service Announcement Reflection

The assignment was to make a public service announcement about a current issue that we were concerned about.  Some thing that impacted us and tat we felt like the public should be more aware of. The assignment required us to use I-Movie to make the announcement. It also required at least three statistics about the subject along with a slogan (or call of action). So in the end through images, music, and a few statistics, we were supposed to get our point across to the public.

I had a few ideas at first but at the end I decided to address child abuse. In this PSA I included three statistics: Almost 5 children die every day due to child abuse, more than 75% of them are under the age of 4. The 1,559 pinwheels on the lawn represent the 1,559 child abuse reports in Lorain County during 2006. Ninety percent of child abuse victims know the perpetrator in some way. In this PSA I used images of children being scared, along with other images such as dolls, pinwheels, and also watercolor paintings. I picked a song that I believe to be Greek called lilium.

Child abuse is something that sadly happens very often and in front of many people that decide to keep it a secrete. I feel like this has to stop “It shouldn’t hurt to be a child” that’s my logo I my PSA and I really agree with it.  People need to be aware of whats going on and stop turning a blind eye to these things.  One of my statistics which says, “The 1,559 pinwheels on the lawn represent the 1,559 child abuse reports in Lorain County during 2006”,  clearly proves my point of view in this issues. Imagine 1,559 children REPORTED abused in Lorain County, imagine how many were not reported! Imagine how many are still being abused now! This got to stop!

I feel really confident on this assignment. I feel like I did a good job on it and I got my pint across. The pictures and how they go along with the song in order to create this sad and truth full feel to this PSA.  I do feel tough that I could work on making the statistics stay longer and more clearer, I tried but it’s definitely something that I would work on more in future projects. I learned a valuable thing with this project that I could in corporate to other projects. That is to always have a deep interest in what I’m doing so that I can never worry about putting my all into it.
